Welcome to Switzerland. Whether you arrived last week or you’re still packing, we’re glad you’re here. This is expat-services.ch, the directory of English-speaking services for people new to Switzerland. In the next three minutes: who lives here, why help in English matters, and how the directory works.

First, you’re in good company. At the end of 2025, about 2.5 million people living in Switzerland were foreign nationals. That’s 27.7 percent: more than one in four residents.

And English is part of daily life here. In 2024, about 550,000 people aged 15 and over named English as one of their main languages. At work it’s even more common: almost one in four employed people usually speak English on the job.

Many people here grew up with English. Among the foreign residents, about 37,000 are British, 20,000 are American and almost 20,000 are Indian, with thousands more from Canada, Ireland and Australia.

Still, the first months bring a lot of paperwork. Swiss admin has real deadlines: register at your commune within 14 days, and take out basic health insurance within 3 months. Everyday life runs in German, French or Italian. And when you talk to a doctor, a lawyer or a tax advisor, you want to understand every word.

Here’s how it works. A person checks every listing before it goes live: that the business exists, offers what it lists in the city it lists, and that its contact details work. There are no reviews, ratings or rankings, just checked facts. It’s free for expats. Premium listings are paid, marked and shown first, and paying doesn’t change the checks.

Who runs it

The directory is run by Loaded AG, a Swiss company based in Schlatt TG (Thurgau), registered under UID CHE-413.943.367. Full details are in the imprint. You can reach us at hello@expat-services.ch.

expat-services.ch is not affiliated with expatservices.ch (without the hyphen), a separate company that offers insurance, tax and accounting services.

We are a directory, not an advisory firm. We don't give insurance, legal, tax or financial advice, and we are not an insurance intermediary. Most businesses listed are independent. Some are our own brands or commercial partners; their profiles say so.

How listings get onto the site

• Businesses sign up themselves, for free, or
• we add them from public business information (their website, the commercial register). These listings are marked as not yet claimed. We tell the business within 30 days, and it can edit, claim or remove the listing. Removal requests are handled within 48 hours.

How we check listings

A person reviews every listing before it goes live. We check that:

• the business exists and is active,
• it offers the services it lists, in the city it lists,
• its contact details work.

Important changes (name, categories, website, enquiry email) are checked again. What we don't do: we don't test the quality of a business's work, and we don't publish reviews, ratings or rankings. When you choose a provider, ask about qualifications, prices and terms, and check official registers where they exist.

How we earn money

We want this to be clear, because it affects what you see.

• Expats pay nothing. We don't take a share of what you pay a provider, and we don't sell your data.
• Basic listings are free for businesses.
• Premium listings are paid (CHF 222 per year). Premium listings are marked "Premium", are shown before free listings on category pages, and can show a logo, photos and a link to their website. That link is a paid link and is marked as sponsored. Paying for Premium doesn't change our checks. See the terms for providers.
• Later: sponsored articles. If a business pays for an article, it is labelled "Sponsored" at the top, and its links are marked as sponsored. Our own guides are not paid for.

We also write guides for people moving to Switzerland, for example on the first 30 days, taxes and health insurance. They are general information; for your own situation, talk to a qualified provider.
