Probationary Period
Simple Definition
The initial trial period of a new job, usually 3 months (max 3 months by law). Notice period is only 7 days.
Why this matters to Expats.
The "Danger Zone". You can be fired (or quit) with 7 days' notice for ANY reason. No justification needed. Pregnant women are NOT protected during probation.
Actionable Intelligence
Credit Check: You typically cannot get a car lease or loan during Probezeit.
Housing: Landlords hate Probezeit. If you are in it, show savings or a guarantor.
