Swiss Health Insurance FAQ

How long do I have to get insurance after moving?
You have exactly 3 months from your arrival date (the date on your permit or registration) to sign up for KVG. The coverage is backdated to the day you entered Switzerland.
What is a "Franchise"?
The franchise is your annual deductible. For adults, this ranges from CHF 300 to CHF 2,500. Choosing a higher franchise lowers your monthly premium significantly.
Can I keep my doctor from abroad?
Generally, no for standard treatments. However, specific VVG policies offer worldwide coverage for elective procedures and second opinions with international specialists.
