The city’s emergency page names two practices that take patients without an appointment: the City-Notfall in the PostParc (Schanzenstrasse 4a, +41 31 326 20 00), open daily from 7.00 to 22.00, and the Praxiszentrum am Bahnhof (Parkterrasse 10, +41 31 335 50 00), open from 7.30 to 19.00 on weekdays and from 9.00 to 18.00 at weekends (bern.ch, checked ). The doctors’ emergency line is 0900 57 67 47 at CHF 3.23 a minute and the pharmacy emergency line 0900 98 99 00 at CHF 0.98 a minute (bern.ch, checked ).
Dental emergencies have two numbers. The university’s dental clinic at Freiburgstrasse 7 runs an emergency service from Monday to Friday, 8.00 to 12.00 and 13.00 to 17.00, on +41 31 684 06 00; outside those hours the emergency dentist for Bern is on +41 31 529 60 60, which is also the number the Swiss Dental Association lists for the city (bern.ch, checked ) (Swiss Dental Association, checked ).
The Inselspital’s emergency services at Rosenbühlgasse 27 work around the clock, with +41 31 632 24 02 for adults and +41 31 632 92 77 for children and young people, and the university psychiatric services keep a crisis intervention centre on +41 31 632 88 11 (bern.ch, checked ). The canton’s average adult premium for basic insurance is CHF 494.40 a month (2027) (FOPH, checked ).
Foreign nationals register at the Einwohnerdienste, Migration und Fremdenpolizei (EMF) at Predigergasse 5, whose counter is open Monday to Friday from 10.00 to 16.00 and until 18.00 on Thursdays (City of Bern, checked ). Registration is due within 14 days of arrival, by web form for EU/EFTA citizens and by posted paper form for other nationals (bern.ch, checked ).
