Five private schools in Küsnacht appear in the Volksschulamt's register (23 September 2026). Four are marked bilingual: three as schools with a bilingual German–English content focus for kindergarten and primary school, and one as a Montessori kindergarten working in English and German; the fifth, also a Montessori kindergarten, has no language profile, and none of the five reaches secondary level (Volksschulamt, checked ).
Kindergarten is the first compulsory school level in the canton, so a private kindergarten needs the approval of the Bildungsdirektion as well (zh.ch, checked ). Küsnacht's online kindergarten enrolment form asks for the name and address of the private kindergarten when a child will not attend the public one, and enrolment is handled by the Schulverwaltung at Heinrich-Wettstein-Strasse 18 (Schule Küsnacht, checked ) (Gemeinde Küsnacht, checked ).
Operators have to disclose their owners and any ties to ideological or religious associations, and the register prints them next to each school (zh.ch, checked ).
