In Basel-Stadt and Baselland the Medical Emergency Call Centre (MNZ) answers on 061 261 15 15 around the clock, every day of the year, when life is not in danger. For acute danger to life the number is 144. The MNZ can refer callers to the joint GP emergency practice at the University Hospital Basel.
Of the 28 practices in the table, 24 name an arrangement on their site: 19 give the MNZ number, three Sanacare practices in Basel forward calls outside opening hours to the telemedicine partner Medgate, and two (Gryffe-Praxis, Praxis Dr. Dervisoglu und Dr. Sailova) point to an answering-machine message (Sanacare AG, checked ). Four publish nothing. matthäuspraxis and Praxengemeinschaft Warteckhof also name Mobile Ärzte, a 24-hour house-call service on +41 61 485 90 00 (matthäuspraxis, checked ) (Praxengemeinschaft Warteckhof, checked ). Walk-in centres are listed with all doctors and dentists in Basel.
Basic insurance pays GP care once the insured person has covered a standard yearly deductible of CHF 300, with children exempt, plus a 10% retention fee on the rest, capped at CHF 700 a year (CHF 350 for children). Family-doctor models lower the premium but require seeing the GP first, except in emergencies.
Some Basel practices say which models they work with: Sevogelpraxis is contracted under the HMO health plan (Sevogelpraxis, checked ), Praxis Ysegass belongs to the Ärztenetz Nordwest (Praxis Ysegass, checked ), and SANAMEA Kleinbasel welcomes patients of every insurer, including the GP model (Sanamea AG, checked ).

MedReg, the federal register of medical professions, is public. It shows each doctor's cantonal practice licence, titles, work address and recorded language skills. A language is entered only on proof of level B2 and the entry is voluntary, so a missing English entry proves nothing. The practices' own pages carry the English evidence here.
