Is this your business?Twenty-six practices in the city of Zurich state on their own websites that English is spoken, through an English site, a plain statement or a team page listing English. The doctors we checked hold a Zurich practice licence in MedReg. The table gives each practice's area, languages, published new-patient position and out-of-hours arrangement.
English is confirmed in three ways. Ten practices publish an English version of their site, among them Praxis Merkurstrasse, StockerDocs and Praxis Zypresse. Praxis Oberstrass ("We speak english"), Hausarztpraxis Schmiede Wiedikon, Hausarztpraxis am Seefeld and Praxis Riesbach say it in words, and the other twelve list English in the doctors' language lines on their team pages. In MedReg we found the named doctors of every practice with a licence "Granted" for the canton of Zurich, holding the title General Internal Medicine or General medical practitioner (Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH/BAG), checked ).
On new patients, 10 of the 26 practices say they take them (in Witikon, for one doctor), one takes only patients in a family-doctor model, two say they are not taking any, and 13 do not say. Walk-in centres sit in a separate category, listed with all doctors and dentists in Zurich.

In the canton of Zurich the AERZTEFON, 0800 33 66 55, is free, answers around the clock on 365 days a year and refers non-life-threatening cases to an on-duty doctor, dentist or pharmacy. For acute danger to life the number is 144. The University Hospital Zurich emergency department is open around the clock.
What practices publish differs. Of the 26 in the table, 16 name an out-of-hours arrangement on their site. Fourteen of them give the AERZTEFON number, one (Praxis Riesbach) names the number 116 117, which the canton's list does not show, and one (TIMMED) names 044 421 21 21. Ten publish nothing on the subject (Canton of Zurich, Amt für Gesundheit, checked ).
Basic insurance pays GP care once the insured person has covered a standard yearly deductible of CHF 300, with children exempt, plus a 10% retention fee on the rest, capped at CHF 700 a year (CHF 350 for children). Family-doctor models lower the premium but require seeing the GP first, except in emergencies.
Praxisgemeinschaft Hönggermarkt currently takes only patients insured in a family-doctor model, and several other practices in the table state that they work with such models; whether an insurer accepts a given practice follows from the policy conditions (Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH/BAG), checked ).

MedReg, the federal register of medical professions, is public. It shows each doctor's cantonal practice licence, titles, work address and recorded language skills. A language is entered only on proof of level B2 and the entry is voluntary, so a missing English entry proves nothing. The practices' own pages carry the English evidence here.
