Permit applications: what's particular to Lausanne

Lausanne's residents' office also renews permits. For a B permit held by a third-country national, the request can be filed no earlier than three months before expiry, a convocation arrives about six weeks before, and payment is due when the request is filed (lausanne.ch, checked ). The file holds a colour copy of the passport, the last three payslips or other proof of means and the signed end-of-validity notice (lausanne.ch, checked ). A C permit is requested through the same office after ten years in Switzerland, the last five on a B permit, and its file adds a debt-collection extract covering the last three years of residence and proof of French (Canton of Vaud, checked ).

Vaud's fee regulation of 1 September 2024 sets CHF 117 for a refusal or revocation decision, CHF 20 for a residence attestation and CHF 25 for a travel document (Canton of Vaud, checked ). For everything else it applies the federal maximums: CHF 95 for a first permit, CHF 75 for an extension, CHF 40 for a duplicate and, for EU/EFTA nationals, at most CHF 65 for the whole procedure (Federal Council (Oem-LEI), checked ). Holders of a C permit have been able to renew it online since 2025, and the service was opened to all communes in 2026 (Canton of Vaud, checked ).
